What editing covers

Editing is the decisions about time: what to keep, what order it plays in, and where one shot becomes the next. It is the largest section here because it is the part that changes a video most, and the part where taste matters more than software. Nothing in it requires a particular editor — the same cut works in Premiere, Resolve, Final Cut or CapCut.

PacingHow long a shot stays on screen before the viewer is ahead of it.
TransitionsMostly a cut. A transition that draws attention to itself needs a reason.
StructureThe order that makes the point land, which is often not the order it was shot in.
