Why people choose Kapwing
- Strong AI features: auto-subtitles, smart-cut, image-to-video.
- Template marketplace.
- Multiplayer collaboration on shared canvases.
What we do differently
- No upload, no cap, no watermark — three of the most-cited Kapwing complaints solved at once.
- Open immediately — no signup screen.
- Privacy-friendly: meeting recordings, sensitive footage, NDA material never leaves your device.
What you give up by switching
- Collaboration. Kapwing is built around several people working on one canvas; nothing here is shared, because nothing here leaves your machine.
- Smart-cut and the other AI editing features, which need a model running on a server.
- The template marketplace. These tools start from your file, not from a layout.

Questions about moving off Kapwing
Is the 250 MB free limit really the problem people hit?
Usually yes. A few minutes of 1080p from a phone clears 250 MB easily, which is why the limit gets hit on ordinary footage rather than on anything unusual. Local processing has no equivalent cap because nothing is uploaded.
Can I still get subtitles?
You can burn in an SRT, VTT or ASS file you already have. Generating one from speech needs a transcription service; that step is not replaced here.
Will my exports be 720p?
No. Output resolution follows your source, so a 4K file stays 4K unless you resize it deliberately. The 720p ceiling is a plan limit, not a technical one.
